This Caramelita Bars Recipe is a crowd pleaser filled with chocolate, caramel, Goey goodness!

If you follow me on instagram, you might have seen my post from last week about how I forgot I had bars in the oven and burnt the entire batch badly! Whoops! Thankfully the house didn’t burn down! This meant that I actually used this Caramelita bars recipe TWICE last week… the first burnt attempt and then again in an effort to redeem myself.
If you’re capable of using an oven timer, then these bars are the most simple and delicious bars! I’ve always thought Special K Bars were my favorite, but honestly these really rival them!
You start by making the crumble layer and bake it for about ten minutes. Then you spread the chocolate chips and thickened caramel over the top. Then you crumble the rest of the dough on top of the caramel.
Then you bake until the top just starts to turn golden… about 30 minutes. Not the 90+ minutes my first batch accidentally cooked for!
These bars take a while to set up. It’s probably best if you make them at least eight hours before you’re ready to serve them! Otherwise you end up with a delicious gooey crumble that makes a delicious ice cream topping! (Not like I’ve tried it or anything!)

These bars are so good that I don’t recommend making them if you don’t have a crowd to feed them to! If you do have a crowd they will love you forever.
